I am a fourth-generation writer and editor who has been in recovery for more than 30 years. I am also a prostate cancer survivor. I have always enjoyed playing and coaching sports as well as exercising and watching my diet—with a cheat here and there—to stay fit. I am happiest when I am helping people overcome their setbacks and attain their potentials.

In 2010, I became a National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Certified Personal Trainer and am certified through April, 2018. I also have pursued the following in continuing education:
